About Purple Hands Wine
Purple Hands is owned and operated by Oregon winemaker and oenophile, Cody Wright. Cody grew up in the Willamette Valley, Oregon's most recognized and abundant wine region. With constant immersion in the wine culture and with close family ties to some of the greatest wineries in the Northwest, Cody pursued the intense but rewarding work at key wineries in California, Oregon, New Zealand and Australia. Upon returning to Oregon, Cody partnered with long-time friend Matt Giannone to set Purple Hands into full swing.
Purple Hands was created around the dichotomy of the wine industry. Oregon winemakers often go from their wine soaked cellars or the Jory-soil vineyards and rush home to change out of wine-stained threads into formal attire for a wine event. The original idea for the Purple Hands wine label comes from a black and white picture of Ken Wright and Mike Etzel at a tuxedo dinner. The picture shows only their Hands side by side, sleeves rolled up. You see the purple etched harvest hands in contrast against the tuxedos, evoking the abstractions of our industry and the essence of the Purple Hands concept. These hands are a badge of honor, a trophy among cellar crews. They wear the proof of their hard work and passion; the best natural expression of the winemakers' life.
Cody's primary focus is on a constant awareness of the wine growing environment, carefully managing the way Purple Hands wine evolves through the process of picking and sorting the very best grapes, handling and pressing the grapes, watching over the juice during maceration and fermentation, patiently creating the ideal blends and completing the process with bottling and labels.
After devoting years of our time and attention, we at Purple Hands are very happy with the fruits of our labor. We hope you will enjoy our wines as much as we do.
