About Purple Hands Wine

Founded by Matt Giannone and Cody Wright, Purple Hands Wine is a lively creation between two young, talented wine makers with a common purpose of operating a top quality winery that is all about the excitement and spirit of making great wine.

Cody and Matt grew up in the Willamette Valley, Oregon's prime wine region. Constant immersion in the wine culture and their family ties to some of the greatest wineries in the Northwest led them to pursue intense but rewarding work at key wineries in California, Oregon, New Zealand and Australia. Upon returning to Oregon, they set Purple Hands into full swing.

Purple Hands was created around the dichotomy of the Wine Industry. Often you go from the wine soaked cellar or the Jory soil stained vineyard and rush home to change out of your vintage skin into formal attire for a wine event. The original idea for the label comes from a black and white picture of Ken Wright and Mike Etzel at a tuxedo dinner. The picture shows only their Hands side by side, sleeves rolled up. You see the Purple etched Harvest hands in contrast against the tuxedos, evoking the abstractions of our industry and the Purple Hands concept. These hands are a badge of honor, a trophy among cellar crews, they wear the proof of your hard work and passion to create the best expression of the vineyard as possible.

Our primary focus is on a constant awareness of the wine growing environment. We carefully manage the way our wine evolves through the process of picking and sorting the very best grapes, handling and pressing the grapes, watching over the juice during maceration and fermentation, patiently creating the ideal blends and completing the process with bottling and labels.

After devoting nearly a year of our time and attention, we are very happy with the fruits of our labor. We hope you will enjoy our wine as much as we do.
