The Wrights
Native to Oregon vineyards and farmland, owners Cody and Marque Wright are most intrigued by wines that reveal the history of their native landscape. The name Purple Hands is meant to depict this work: the work of harvest when your hands are purple and black and rugged from long days and nights of pushing yourself to create and sustain quality; the work that comes from the soul; the work fundamentals that Cody and Marque’s families demonstrate and that they hope their children will embrace.
As amazing as wine is to enjoy, the process of how wine is made—the delicate strokes and broad movements that create this harmony of ferment— show us humility in this winery. Purple Hands is a message that showcases honesty and purity: in the name, in the vineyard, and in the wines. As humble shepherds of the grape to the bottle, we celebrate the evolution of the earth’s geologic transformation here in oregon, and this special place in time that allows us to showcase uncompromising expressions of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Cody wright, our founder and winemaker grew up in the willamette Valley wandering ragged vineyard headlands and hidden hills under Oregon’s iconic white oak trees. and the dream of the lands never faded. An environmental scientist by education and naturalist by instinct he built Purple Hands as a site-focused study of Pinot noir and Chardonnay. In 2005, at 25 years old, Cody founded Purple Hands Winery with a production of 250 cases. Five years later Marque joined Cody, and together their guidance and focus on quality create the foundation of the company. 2 decades of vintages later—Purple Hands Winery works with three estate vineyards and sources from the most acclaimed vineyards in Oregon.
Purple Hands is proud to have a small team that operates our winery and vineyards: Juan Serratos - Vineyards Steward Lead, Margaux Lemma - National Sales Manager, Molly Herrera - Manager of Tasting Rooms and Wine Clubs, Emma Vande Brake- Tasting Room Lead, Marque Wright - Winery Director/The Boss, Cody Wright - Wine grower and Winemaker, Tyrus and Wynnie Wright - Cellar and vineyard hands, and Thor Wright(German Shepard) - mischief making , and best friending.
